Red Breast Sunfish

Red breast Sunfish

I enjoy fish. I have always drawn and painted them. My dad and I would fish all summer, and paint fishing pictures all winter. I think fish are beautiful, and varied. Every where I have lived has had different varieties of fish.

Last month my dad and I went fishing in a lake near Grandfather Mountain. I was expecting to catch trout, but we kept catching these pretty panfish. At first we thought they were Bluegills, but they looked a little different. Later I found out they were Red Breast Sunfish, native to the eastern slope of the Appalachian Mountains.

This painting is of one I caught, striking the lure I caught it on.
