Rainy Day, Sylva
I love rainy days. The world gets washed clean. Colors are richer, and everything is shiny. The air smells fresh, and things are quiet and peaceful. Rain brings water that renews and refreshes the earth, and causes everything to grow.
This is a painting of Sylva, a cute mountain town in Western North Carolina. It is embraced by the Plott Balsam Mountains. This view from the courthouse is one of my favorites. I love the way the atmospheric perspective pushes the mountains off to the distance, and the one point linear perspective pushes the street back into the distance. This was a fun painting!
