When I was a kid, my dad and I spent a lot of time with each other out in the canoe. I think it helped us keep a strong relationship. No wonder that I was excited to get a canoe for my 36th birthday.
The next few years I had a baby girl to small to sit in the canoe, so it mostly was in storage, but last year, my daughter kept asking me to take her fishing. One morning we headed out to Lake Lucas, where the state record Crappie was caught, and gave it a try.
We had fun, no bites, but it was nice to be together. After an hour or so, my two year old was ready to be out of the water and go play on the playground.
This was a fun memory, and I am looking forward to the years when patience is greater, and we can have a lot of fun together.
