One of the most beautiful times in the Southeast is spring. Mountain Laurel, Rhododendron, and Azaleas all bloom so beautifully. Of course in the High Country, spring comes later. This is a picture of Grandfather Mountain, from the entrance. The pink of the rhododendron blossoms contrasts beautifully with the green of the trees.
Grandfather Mountain, North Carolina, is another spot we visited on our honeymoon. This is a painting looking across the mile high swinging bridge from the other side. This is the most famous part of the destination, and very cool. Grandfather Mountain also has a zoo to rehab animals, a visitors center and miles of trails. […]
It has been a while since i have posted, but i still have been busy painting, so expect a number of new posts. Lynley and I got married 4 years ago. Our honeymoon was the Blue Ridge Parkway through Virginia and North Carolina mountains. One of our favorite days was between Boone, NC and Asheville, […]
Well here is another painting in my series about my area. I love the different colors in the field, and the way the warm yellows, oranges and reds read against the darker trees, and bluer mountains. This is one of my favorites so far!
I love history. I enjoy visiting older places and wondering what has gone on there over time. When I lived in Macon, Georgia, my apartment was in an Antebellum mansion, and I loved walking around the neighborhood seeing all of the homes. Here in Asheboro, there are a few old homes. This home is my […]
I love living in the country. I love the open spaces, the forests, and the farms. I love not having to deal with stop lights, and traffic. We only live about 12 minutes out of town, but that is far enough to breathe. This painting is of a farm nearby us on High Pine Church […]
One of my favorite stress relievers is to take a drive in the country, and I live in some pretty country. The Uwharries are an ancient, eroded mountain range in central North Carolina. I live in a community built in the north end of the range. It is beautiful. This particular view comes from across […]
2007 was a difficult year for my family. In January the oldest nephew passed away suddenly. After the funeral we walked out of the church, and it started snowing. The world was covered in a clean blanket of snow. Later that winter my sister’s family went to the temple, and performed sacred ordinances in behalf of […]
This is the second painting in my smaller painting series. This was the view out my window, when I lived in Macon. I loved seeing all of the Antebellum Mansions. One thing I find interesting is the color contrast on the Italianate home. The owners were redoing the roof, and I enjoy the cool color of […]
I love early mornings. They are like my own private time. The world is clear and beautiful, and all of the hubbub of the day has not started yet. In early morning light, everything looks better, fresh with the optimism that this day can be anything that it wants to be. This house is a […]
