Temples are important in my faith. It is where families are sealed together, so that they are with each other after death. Recently a young couple my wife and I have worked with got married at the Raleigh Temple. What a happy day! I did this painting for them.
One of the things I love about spring and summer is the powerful thunderstorms. They are so massive and sublime. In this pastoral scene I have chosen to portray these cows grazing just as a storm is about to hit.
I love big rivers. It is one of the best things about the eastern third of the United States. It is a wet climate, so water has to go somewhere. The first big river i lived close to was the Ohio. It is a beautiful, massive body of water. Rivers were the first highways. The […]
Summer is a beautiful time of the year. One of the pretty, albeit uncomfortable parts of summer is humidity. It causes strong atmospheric perspective: things get lighter, grayer and fuzzier the further away they get. This is a beautiful scene of two old tractors on a farm in late summer. The corn is up, but […]
One day, while driving out in the country, I came across a farm that was flooded. It was a bright, cold morning, with a breeze, and the water had frozen. The sun was shining towards me, casting everything into shadow. It was beautiful. I had to make it into a painting!
I love rain. It gives such beautiful reflections. Colors get more saturated. Everything looks clean. This painting was fun, trying to capture the look of the people in their slickers. The reflections on the painting are quite abstract and bright. This was a challenging painting.
I prefer to live in Rural America. As a kid i lived for a while in a smallish town with orchards and farms, surrounded by mountains. When I went off to college, I chose a tiny community, and loved the farms and turkey ranches, as well as the beauty of nature. When I was an […]
On a late afternoon, after a hard day of work, it is always nice to come home! Home is where we can be ourselves, Home is where the people that love us most live. Home is where most of our happiest memories are made. I was approached to do this painting by a family who […]
I hated winter growing up. I remember shoveling snow many days in a row, morning and afternoon, and having snow dump down my neck when shoveling under a tree. Everything was cold, all the lakes were frozen, and the air was very polluted. Now I dont mind winter. The days are generally in the 40s […]
At the junction of Trents Ferry Road and Boonsboro Road in Lynchburg, Virginia, is a really cute little farm. Judith Creek flows through it on the way to the James River. I always thought it would be a great place to live, and it is very beautiful. I love the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia […]
