One of my favorite things about living in the South is the beautiful Springtime. I remember when I first moved south and saw Azalea bushes just covered in blossoms. I could hardly believe they were real. Later I discovered dogwood trees, and redbuds, to of my other springtime favorites.  This painting is a commission for […]

I really enjoy old homes and old cars. Not far from my home is an old farmhouse with this fun fire engine out front. What a neat combination!  I chose to portray this scene in late afternoon light in winter. The muted color scheme creates a feeling of unity, and of age, as both the […]

I love driving the back roads. You get a real feel for the place you are in when you leave the main thoroughfare, leave the chain restaurants and hotels, and get into the back woods. The Story Inn is one of those places. My Dad and I were out exploring Brown County, Indiana. We turned […]

Rain is wonderful. When it is a hot muggy day, and a hard rainstorm comes through, the temperature drops, sometimes the humidity lessons, the world has had a drink, and everything is refreshed. This painting is of that moment when the rain is leaving, the sun is breaking out and everything feels better.

I love old courthouses.  Back before modernism, they were the jewel of the county.  They were the heart of the community.  As communities have grown, the courthouses have been replaced, due to lack of size and resources.  Luckily many of them are re purposed. This is the Jackson County Courthouse in North Carolina. It is […]

One of the great ways to see them is on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad.  This painting is of the train pulling into Dillsboro, during an art fair.  I love the composition […]

Today my nephew is getting married. He is the first of the next generation to be married. This is happening at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple, in South Jordan, Utah. We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We believe that when we marry in our temples, we are sealed to our […]

I have been on many road trips. Late at night, when I get tired and need a break, the bright colors and lights of a gas station are like a beacon, drawing me in. I know I can find food, and a bathroom, which although not of the highest quality, are available, and open, even […]

I love my little girls. They are fun and adventurous. Last spring we went to the beach, and they had fun playing on the edge of the water with me.  We saw Conch shells, Jellyfish, and even a snake skeleton.  We especially enjoyed just letting the waves wash over our toes. We couldn’t swim, there […]

Indiana is one of the places I consider home.  For the past 20 years it is where my family has been. It is a beautiful, peaceful, underrated state.  One of my favorite things to do is to go driving out in the country, especially in the early hours of the day, when the world is […]
