This painting was a bit of a breakthrough for me. I decided to just let myself be more loose with the color, which relates to some of my earlier work. I am happy with the results.
I love wilderness, and hiking. I enjoy being out in nature, and enjoying God’s masterpiece. This painting is based off a photograph of Mirror Lake, in the Uinta Mountains of Utah, a place I spent many a childhood weekend. I learned to love the outdoors, camping, and fishing with my dad, uncles and cousins. Now I live in another beautiful state with high mountain wilderness, North Carolina, and am trying to instill that love of the outdoors in my own daughters.
